Mompreneur Life-How to Find Beauty in the Chaos

By October 26, 20226 Comments3 min read

I am a mompreneur. I use that word to mean that I am a wife, a work-from-home mother of 2 feisty little boys, a writer and a YouTube content creator. Let me give you a glimpse of my typical weekday.

The mom in mompreneur

I am usually out of bed by 6am…fun fact: I am NOT a morning person but adulting and motherhood happened. After I wake up, I turn on the heater so my husband can bathe the boys while I prep their bags for school. When my husband is not around, I must sweet talk the boys to co-operate else lateness will be our portion. You can guess what sweet-talking means. A mixture of pleading, shouting and some TLC.

The boys are usually out of the house by 6:45 am and I take about 2 hours to pray, meditate and get on to social media to reply all my comments and watch some videos. I then take a shower and prepare breakfast for my husband and I. Depending on how we feel, breakfast could be anything from leftovers at home to “outside food”.

The entrepreneur in mompreneur

I hop on to my laptop by late morning. I research and write the article for the day and send it to my boss. Thankfully, I do not have a rigid work schedule so on some days, I even end up emailing the article after the boys have gone to bed. If I have scheduled to film content for Taste and Bloom, I either do it after breakfast or before lunch.

On days when I have a heavy breakfast, my lunch is usually what most people would have for breakfast. My favourite is a warm bowl of oats with a lot of milk. Sometimes, if I have a little leftover soup, I make noodles in soup, which is a broke version of ramen.

Back to the first things

Fast forward to when the boys get back home. Depending on how I feel, I bathe them immediately or have them wash their hands first and bathe them after supper and homework. From when these little people get home till they sleep is STRESS! Oh I didn’t mention, whenever I write in caps, it means I’m screaming that word.

My boys sleep anytime between 7 and 7:30pm. The former when they are EXTRA and the latter when they comport themselves. Can someone please explain why kids suddenly get so thirsty when it’s bedtime? Well, once they sleep, I finish anything that needs to be finished off in the kitchen, pack their toys if I feel like it and go take a shower.

Mommy time is still entrepreneurship time

After a relaxing shower, I just enjoy the peace and quiet with TV. I mostly watch Food Network on DSTV or a nice movie or series while I shuffle between the various social media platforms on my phone. This is if I have already sent in my article for the day!

Remember I said I am not a morning person right? The earliest I sleep is 10 pm. I can sometimes be up till midnight. And oh, you would think my mind would be resting at this time. Absolutely not! I will be planning for the next day in my head, hoping and praying that God gives me life and good health the following day.

My beautifully chaotic life

From when my feet touch the floor each weekday till I lay down again, it’s a juggle among being a wife, a mother, an employee and an entrepreneur. Is it stressful? Very! But I would have it no other way. The people in my life make it so beautiful and worthwhile.
