You see a baby crying and milk rushes into and out of your breasts. What an inconvenience. Leaking breasts are when milk rushes out of your breasts while a baby is not sucking or you are not expressing. It may happen to breastfeeding women when the breasts are too full of milk. This may be because of a delayed feed, or it may happen to one breast while your baby feeds on the other. It may also happen when you hear a baby cry or you think about your baby. Other times it can happen when you take a warm shower, or when you are getting cozy with your intimate partner. Sometimes, it happens for no reason at all.
Leaking breasts are a perfect indication that your milk supply is good. It is common in the early days of breastfeeding. As your body adjusts to your baby’s breastfeeding routine, it tends to get better. Until then, here are a few ways you can deal with it. 
- Wear dresses that can easily conceal leaks. Dresses with dark tones and patterns will do that well for you.
- Go out with an extra shirt in your bag. Sometimes, no matter what you do, you may still get a leak. An extra shirt that you can change into may come in handy to save the day. You can also carry along a jacket to cover up if need be.
- Your brassieres should be well-fitted. Not only do they make the melons look nice, they may help prevent a nasty leak.
- Use a breast pad to protect your dress. Disposable, or reusable. Your choice.
- Breastfeed often or express as you go.
- Apply pressure on your nipples once you feel a let-down coming.
If milk leakage during sex embarrasses you, have a conversation with your intimate partner. You may discover that it is not a problem after all. But to prevent it, keep a bra with a breastpad on during the action to prevent drips and sprays, or breastfeed or express before getting cozy. When you leak milk, it can feel terribly embarrassing, but don’t worry. It’s one of those things that you can’t always help.
